SLEEEEEP

So as you can gather, we do not get much sleep in our household, as my name suggests!!

Since Aleesha was little she fights sleep. She does not like going to sleep, and even when she does, she does not sleep for long.

When she was little, she was very colicky, so we put it down tot he fact that she has trapped wind, and that was why she was waking up every hour and crying. The only way we could settle her was by bouncing her.

It was only a few months ago, that our doctor suggested that she might have a lactose sensitivity. Kiran has the same problem, so I dont know why we didnt think of it sooner. We had tried all the medicines under the sun, infacol, gripe water, dentinox... nothing worked.

We switched her on to lactose free milk and suddenly she is a lot happier, and less gassy. But she still does not like sleeping. We think now she has got into a habit of being bounced and and falling asleep with us. Because she use to wake up so often, we think she has conditioned herself to wake up and think it is normal behaviour (which it is not, she really should be sleeping through now).

She goes to sleep around 7pm and will wake up about 1030 for a bottle of milk. She then wakes up at 1/2 am and then about 5am... then she might sleep until 8am like she did this morning woohoo! or she might wake up at 7am.

She still does struggle with the wind, but it isnt as bad as it use to be. I completely understand when moters say they dont get any sleep and that their baby is so colicky. Dont rule out the fact that your baby may have a slight lactose intolerance. We had to go back to the doctors quite a few times, and the health visitor before we got the answer we were looking for. Up until then they said it was normal and that she will grown out of it.

So the moral of the story?? If your gut is telling you that something isnt right, then make sure you follow it up, it may save you time in the long run. If we had known that she had a senstivity then I would have changed her formula straight away, and we may have been able to sleep train her earlier. However she is now 1 and we are going to have a rough few nights training her to go to sleep on her own. Wish us luck!

I will post back when we do sleep train her, and let you know how we get on. Hopefully it can help some other mothers and fathers out there who are going through the same thing.

Hope to see you soon!!

Lots of love!
