Okay so this one is for all the yummy mummys to be.

When I was preparing my bag for hospital I packed everything under the sun, but really only needed a handful of things. I know I had a C Section but I did pack for all eventualities.

Im not going to go into detail about clothes etc because you will know to pack that stuff, like pjs, but the stuff that you might not think of.

okay so here is my list:

A straw, when in labour your mouth might get dry because of the gas and air, and you might not have the energy to sit up and drink from a cup

Lip balm, for the same reason, your lips might get dry

A handheld fan, labour wards are usually very hot

Liquid Witch hazel, you can get a bottle of this from Boots. This is great for soothing and healing any sores. You can soak you maternity pads in it, and it will help heal any stitches, it is also great for cleansing the face.

Maternity pads, but I found that the hospital ones werent that bad as people say.

A little mirror for those first picture moments, you might not be mobile to get to one.

I took straightners and a hairdryer, but actually what was easier, was some dry shampoo! I didnt use the straightners, and I wanted to wash my hair at home in comfort.

Hair bobbles for long hair, or maybe a head band to help keep hair out of your face

Maternity bras

Tops that can open at the front if you are breastfeeding

Wet Wipes

I actually packed three bags, One for the birth, one for baby and one for me

So the one for the birth, Kiran took home after she was born, I didnt use half the stuff in it because of the C section.

One for baby we kept in the car until I was moved up to the ward. Then the one for me he bought when I was on the ward, but i did send stuff back, so I didnt have too much stuff on the ward.

I took things like magazines and music, but didnt read them because whenever the baby is asleep, you try to sleep too, because you are so tired. The only thing I used my music for was in the operating room, which was really good! They plugged my ipod up to the speakers so we all had something to listen to.

Most hospitals will have stereos that you can plug your music to, so get a great playlist and keep it in your bag.

Those are the mains things that I wouldnt do without.

Hope this is of some help to all of you who are expecting!!

See you all again soon!!
