n general, this kind of scanners have a tendency to warp and distort; the DPI resolution is of less importance. It's not a bad device in its catagory, but it can't hold a candle to a flatbed I used this scanner to scan pictures from photo albums. It lacks a second row of rollers, making it less stable than some other brands. Also, the edges aren't rounded enough, making it snag/hook on other photo's in the albums while scanning. This is very annoying. It demands multiple takes to get a good scan (whilst trying to push te corners of the ajacent photo's down to prevent snagging). Tilting the scanner a bit may remedy too, but , allows false light and messing with the focus. Then there's the width of the scan area compared to the width of the device. I've seen cheaper ones with a far smaller margin, making it possible to scan closer to the spine of the albums. I'm happy with the battery life. Although I prefer exchangable batteries for longer non-stop use. You want to bring a laptop or tablet to the job for displaying your scans: The display on the scanner is so small (with false aspect ratio), it cannot tell you whether your scan is decent or not. And of course, you can use your laptop's USB for recharging. I'm also pleased with the included 8G SD memory card.
